‘The Straad Players’ is a project developed by musician/composer Steve Thompson
Essentially it involves creating and performing plays in a virtual world (2nd Life) and making films. It allows participants to simulate many of the activities involved in creating productions and movies without the costs and many of the difficulties encountered in the real world. All of the following roles can be accommodated: actors, set designers, set builders, costume designers, script writers, camera crew, editors, post production, audio technicians, voice characterisations, directors, musicians.
The beginnings of this idea can be seen in the first promo movie and other productions can be seen in the showcase area of this site. A new movie is in production we have a tight production schedule so if you want to be involved please Steve Thompson or join the email list We’re working towards a screening of February 10th 2011 so we need to get cracking.
For the past three years we have produced a feature film for screening at Animex Fringe in Saltburn. Last year with the full backing from Cleveland Police we screened the “Force is With You”. You can see this movie below.
This year our production is even more adventurous and it’s called “Tommy and Barry Go Back” which is a sequel to the movie below.
